About 20,000 fans pilgrimaged to one of Austria’s most beautiful areas – the wonderful Wachau – to gaze the 40 years old rallye cars: Audi Quattro, Lancia Delta Integrale, Peugeot 205 Turbo, Mini Cooper, Ford Escort, Opel Ascona, Audi S1 – all to make the rallyefans’ hearts leap for joy. As stages served special tests in the Wachau’s vineyards, in ÖAMTC’s automotive engineering-center on the Wachauring, its surroundings and also in Melk.
The „Night of thunder“ with 100 legendary cars, belling engines as well as spectacular drifts was exceeding all expectations.
On Saturday the drivers had to pass three tests for the „grande finale“. Thousands of enthusiastic fans were celebrating the winners.
